For Blake… You Will Not Be Forgotten.

Every once in a while I see the effects of just how important what I do as a photographer is. Today I have felt it in full force. My heart is broken for the mother and friend I have known since I was in high school. We were both teenage mothers and bonded in our struggles.

It breaks my heart to even be writing this but I think it is important to say. She sent me a text the other day asking me for the images I took of her son back in 2010. She was asking because she needed them for his funeral. Sadly he died tragically in a drowning accident, he was only 16. I am at a loss of words. I don’t know what to say to her to possible take away the pain she is feeling… I am so sorry for the loss that her family is suffering. No one should ever have to lose a child. I hope these images will help her remember the good and I’m so happy I had the chance to know him and have the privilege of photographing him and his little sister. I truly believe I was given a gift and I know today more than ever just how important that gift is.

In a time like this images become priceless. They are the reminders of our lives, legacy and who we are… Long after we are gone hopefully those we leave behind will have a glimpse into who were at the core of our being. Blake will be missed but never forgotten.  To the best big brother I know, I love you guys …

Beautiful pictures of my grandnephew and grandniece. Blake was a gentle soul who loved his little sister very, very much, and she loved him equally. These photos showed that so well. Thank you for posting.ReplyCancel
