Meghan + Jeff’s Bozeman Montana Engagement Session

This week’s throwback is going back to warmer days and westward places. I love reminiscing about this amazing Bozeman, Montana session I did back in June with Meghan + Jeff . I still remember the warm heartfelt greeting I was given by these two and how we celebrated my first evening in Bozeman with a slumber party out in the mountains. Meghan and Jeff were celebrating their upcoming wedding by having a party with all of their friends who wouldn’t be able to join them back here in Wisconsin. They asked me to join and be part of this momentous occasion and I was happy to do so!

They rented out an old cabin in the woods, a place called Battle Ridge, it had two rooms, a wood burning stove and some bunk beds. Uber-rustic and fantastic! Everyone brought their dogs, almost more dogs than people which I’ve been told is pretty common at these kind of Montana parties (ah swoon). Ryan Lafoley, friend of Meghan + Jeff gave them an amazing wedding gift by feeding everyone with gourmet wood fired pizzas from his super cool restored pizza truck! Ryan is a private chef in Bozeman and his pizzas are to die for. No, really, if I died that day I would have been ok with it. I mean as long as it was death by campfire and pizza and not by a bear mauling or moose trampling. lol

It was such an incredible night! Home-brewed as well as local beer, amazing food, bluegrass music, friends, laughter, and no phone, TVs, or other modern day distractions. It was totally unplugged and raw and I loved every single moment of it! Every time I travel I take something away from it. This trip for me, will reside in my heart forever. Not only did I get to spend time with some amazing people but I think Montana grabbed me in a way like no other place has done before.

Every day I was there I spent a brief moment in tears at the thought of having to leave. It’s not that I didn’t miss my hubby or friends/family; it just stirred a part of me I didn’t know was in there. On my way home I called my mom and she told me that when I was six months old her and my dad brought me to Montana. Who knows, maybe something was planted within me of course I don’t remember, maybe that seed has finally come to the surface. Montana has a wonder and beauty that is indescribable. Where the clouds meet the mountains and the world moves a little slower. Take in the beauty of this Montana celebration and then swoon over this beautiful couple and their Bozeman, Montana engagement session further down…

After the celebrations we all slept off our night of fun, and later met up in the afternoon for some Bozeman engagement session fun. I met them at their beautiful home just outside of Bozeman. Meghan is an incredible artist and I love the way she incorporates found objects in nature in her decor and her art. They love antiques and repurposing items (something that is so close to my heart) this place they’ve built together is all them and I’m so happy to have been invited in! The talent of these two is ridiculous,  Jeff has an amazing gift for music and I got several opportunities to hear him play. While we were at the house I had him play for Meghan, which he does from time to time.

These two have a connection to one another that I wish everyone could have. I believe their love is so special, the same kind of love I have for my hubby. I adore seeing the love and connection between couples! Typically I like couples to write love letters to one another, but with these two there was no need, they have a lil journal of their lives together since they started their journey together. What a beautiful and brillant idea. How cool will it be for them to look back on and read what they wrote forty years from now and reminisce about a time they were young and spending their days in Montana. Or maybe even for their kids one day to read about a time before they were born.

We went to some of Meghan and Jeff’s favorite places in Bozeman that day and finished up in a gorgeous valley with all the late spring blooms in full color. I loved everything about this trip, this incredible couple (I’m happy to call my friends) and what I’ve taken away from this experience. Thank you Meghan + Jeff for the amazing memories, I miss you both! xo-laurie marie
