This One’s For Mom…

This Sunday is Mother’s Day and with that said, this post is for my momma:). She is the woman who inspired me to be an artist, to be true to myself and to follow my dreams. She to is an artist, a painter, a jeweler and a lover of all things beautiful. I grew up watching her be an entrepeneur and follow her passion. She has spent the last 30 years as a fine art jeweler, putting her heart and soul into her work. I grew up watching her create and share her work with the world. I don’t think I would be where or who I am today without her. She is full of life, love and laughter. I get my quirky sense of humor and my love of art from her. Thank you mom for all that you are and all that you have been to me. I can’t imagine a life without you. xoxo- your biggest fan!

We’ve reached another milestone…

Today my son Austin turns 18. Yes I said 18 and this is by far one of the hardest most emotional posts I’ve ever written. I was 17 years old when I had Austin and at the time I was terrified as to what I was going to do, what would happen and how we would get through it. On May 10, 1994 my whole world changed and I never looked back.

It wasn’t easy but we got through it together and he is by far the best thing I’ve ever done in my life. Now looking back it saddens me that it all went by so fast. If I knew then what I know now I would have captured every little finger, every little toe and emerge myself in every single moment. In life we hit these milestones one after another and we sometimes forget just how precious they are. He will never lose a baby tooth, get a first haircut or get his license again.

Today I celebrate what an amazing person he has become and what an inspiration he has been in my life. He has taught me how to be strong, to go after what I want and most of all how to love someone completely.

I love you so much Austin and I am so proud of the man you’ve become. Even if you don’t think you need me anymore, I still need you. As hard as it is to let go of the one person who you’ve gone through the worst of times and the best of times, I know I’ve raised you well and you’re the best son a mom could hope for.

You are such an amazing person and I know you will do great things! I love you bug. I’m so proud of you. Oh and I know you’re an adult now but I’m not letting you move out for at least a year lol. I need to be weened off. lol

Happy birthday

xoxo- mom

Bridal Tips To Know: How to Pin The Boutonniere

From one wedding to another, one thing I’ve noticed is that not many people know how to pin on the boutonniere. So if you’re struggling I’ve found a little something that might help your assistants, grandmas, mom’s and helper pin it tight and pin it right:)!

1. Make sure the flower or boutonniere is facing the correct way, if there are any straggler leaves or wilting pieces, gently pull them off

2. Pin the boutonniere on the right side of the gentlemen, his left your right

3. Place it so that the flower is on or just below the broadest part of the lapel

4. The pin should be under the lapel, and push the point through, over the boutonniere and back under the lapel to hide it on the other side

5. It should feel secure and your all set:)!

Thirty-Six Plus Tries and Still Standing!

So you may have heard I’m re-branding, yup sure am. So in my attempts to put myself out there more (in the world I guess), I am trying to get some profile images together to use on my site. So after 36-plus attempts, I may have found a few that will work! I think that, in the search for my not-so-perfect shot, I scared the neighbors a bit! If anyone was watching they definitely are thinking “oh that girl is so not right”.:)

Here I am shooting myself with the iPhone in my car for like 15 minutes. My first attempts of making faces… you know the ones, those not-so-cute, not-so-sexy ones, while failing miserably. So I thought “hmm music gets me jazzed” and I love to dance, so lets find something to “put me in the mood” so to speak. ha ha Well these went a little better but still not great lol. After all was said and done I think a found 3 or 4 I like enough to use, and the neighbors are going to have me committed but it was kinda fun trying anyways. I thought someone might get a laugh outta these?! I know I did.
